"Neuronatyam" aims to bring together dance and neuroscience. In this program, Bharatanaytam - the classical Indian dance and theater form - is used to show all that the brain does consciously and unconsciously to enable dance and movement. Themes of balance, preconception, symmetry, aesthetics, rhythm, storytelling, and emotions are explored through the lens of neuroscience. The event is open to all; proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).

Sloka Iyengar PhD, PMP, a neuroscientist, science educator and science advocate, is passionate about using science and dance for public good. She has broad experience, from working at a shelter for stray animals in Ahmedabad, India, to basic and clinical research in epilepsy, to lobbying for neuroscience funding on Capitol Hill. As a dancer, she has started a program to bring dance to residents of New York City nursing homes. More about Sloka can be found at www.slokaiyengar.net.

Due to precautions for corona virus, this event has been canceled.
