Calling all science enthusiasts! Grab a pint and listen in as two researchers from Weill Cornell Medicine discuss what they are doing in the lab to advance the scientific frontier in the neuroscience of mental illness. Learn about cutting-edge research investigating causes and treatments for anxiety and depression. First up, Danielle Gerhard will outline how experiences during development, including exposure to stress, can alter how the brain matures, and how this influences the risk for anxiety. Next, Puja Parekh will discuss the impact of stress on symptoms and brain patterns in depression and will highlight work related to novel potential treatments. Each presentation will be followed by a Q&A session. All are welcome, we hope to see you there!
This event is part of the Postdoc “Pub Talks”, a series of events featuring the research of postdoctoral scholars from Weill Cornell Medicine designed to engage both fellow researchers and science-curious individuals from around New York City.
